Nano Banana 2 vs Nano Banana Pro: which one to choose

The Nano Banana family — Google's image generation models from the Gemini line — has two top versions: Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) and Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image). Both are available on NeuralBox, and both keep raising the same question: which one should you use?

The short answer: for most tasks, Nano Banana 2 — it's cheaper and accepts more references. Pro is the one to pick when the image needs correct text or maximum detail. Below is a detailed comparison with prices.

What they have in common

Both models generate images from text and from references, support resolutions up to 4K, PNG and JPG output and 10 aspect ratios — from square to cinematic 21:9. Prompts work in any major language.

Both are available in the web interface and through the NeuralBox API. There is no subscription: you top up your balance by card (via Stripe) or with crypto and pay per generation. For very simple, high-volume tasks, don't forget the base Nano Banana — it costs about $0.03 per image.

How they differ

The main differences are price, the number of references and text handling. Prices are on the Basic plan ($5 = 150,000 tokens); on higher plans tokens are up to 40% cheaper. For comparison, the table also shows the official Gemini API prices.

When to use which

The rule is simple: start with Nano Banana 2 and switch to Pro only for a specific reason.

Nano Banana 2
Product cards, social media content, a consistent character across scenes (up to 14 references), high-volume generation. The best balance of price and quality: just $0.067 at 1K.
Nano Banana Pro
Posters and covers with lettering, infographics, complex multi-object scenes, maximum detail. Pro at 2K costs the same as NB2 at 4K — $0.15.
Base Nano Banana
Quick drafts and simple generations at $0.03, plus Edit mode — editing a finished photo while keeping the face and pose.

How to try it

Sign in with Telegram, Google or email, top up your balance (from $5 by card, from $2 in crypto) and open the Images tab — both versions are in the model list.
